No false alarms from wind or motion
It is important to understand that the Bike Alarm Lock with Cable is motion sensitive and accidental knocks from passers by, windy conditions, movement caused in transit, etc. will NOT cause the alarm to sound. Review of the Cable Alarm Lock
This is my review and opinion of the Cable Alarm Lock, how it works and how effective it is for securing a bicycle or other items from theft.
The secret of keeping your bike or scooter from being stolen is to make it more difficult to steal than the bike or scooter that it is parked next to.
The Cable Alarm Lock is a very special item which you can easily use to secure your bike to almost anything you can wrap the Cable around. The Cable is over 30” long and an impressive ¾” thick (20mm) making it quite intimidating at first look.
The Cable Alarm Lock can be used with the Alarm engaged or not, personally I would always use the Alarm. The most effective method of deterring a thief is by having an Alarm.
While testing the Alarm (110 decibel) I found it was a good attention grabber and most people near the Alarm when it went off, would pay attention to where the noise was coming from. This is a good thing as no thief wants to have a lot of attention paid to him.
What if the thief just cut through the Cable with Cable cutters?
The Cable on the Cable Alarm Lock was a concern at first but cutting through it becomes increasingly more difficult as the Alarm goes off as soon as the Cable is attacked. Now we are back to the noise of the Alarm attracting attention. Note: This is the thickest Cable I found at ¾” thick (20mm) most were up to 12mm thick.
The Cable Alarm Lock is extremely flexible allowing you to wrap it around solid objects, for transportation I wrap mine around the bike frame and it is well out of the way yet handy when required.
Over 825 bikes are stolen every day, the majority of thieves are opportunistic thieves; if your bike is left unattended and unlocked it becomes an easy target. Your bike is now a very bona fide target to be stolen.
When the potential thief has a choice of bikes to take he will always take the one that is easiest to steal. Many people own expensive bikes these days so I would also consider adding a second lock to those bikes.
My opinion of the Cable Alarm Lock is that it is a very functional item, designed to attract attention and deter theft, which I feel it accomplishes very well.
