How it works
The cable has a special conductive central core that creates a "loop circuit" when the cable is locked into the main lock unit. Any action that breaks the "loop circuit" whether permanently or momentarily will activate the alarm.
No false alarms from wind or motion
It is important to understand that The Cable Alarm Lock is motion sensitive and accidental knocks from passers by, windy conditions, movement caused in transit, etc. will NOT cause the alarm to sound. I ordered the Cable Lock Alarm, from <http://www.cablealarmlock.com/> and received it as promises (about a week or so). I ordered it for my scooters, and when I got it, examine it, looks very sturdy, very thick cable and work perfectly as advertised. You lock it, it chirps once, wait a few seconds to activate and afterward shake the cable and the chirping alarm, kicks in loud, very loud. As for, if the alarm will go on when the cable is cut, I did not test it … or else I would ruin it … so I will have to trust the alarm will go on if that happens. I am very conscious, that this will not resist any professional thief, (nothing really does), but for the opportunistic thieves wandering around, I believe this cable will make a difference and be a good deterrent, by the intimidating thickness of the cable or chase them away when the alarm goes on. I’ m satisfied with the product so I just ordered a second one … I have 2 scooters.
